It's Like My Birthday Lasted Two Days!
My hypothesis is that your birthday should last as many days as you are years old. Today was
officially the day after my birthday, but we did so many fun things (including having more cake
and ice cream) that I consider it just an extension of the birthday celebration. I'm two, and
my birthday fete lasted two days. Does that mean that on Mommy's birthday in february, her
celebration should last 40 days? Something to ponder.
The morning was spent playing with the girls (mainly dancing to "We Are the Dinosaurs," which is
my new favorite song). After lunch, Mommy and Daddy had arranged a gathering for the neighbors
so they could share some cake and ice cream and wish me a Happy Birthday. Lots of the neighbor
kids came by, and we had fun eating cake and riding our various vehicles. I can't reach the
pedals of my new trike, but my buddy Ronan can (he's a few months older), so I rode his scooter
and he rode my trike.
After nap and dinner, Uncle Drew, the girls, Mommy, Daddy, and I
hopped in the car and headed for Minnehaha Falls. The girls wanted to see it. We
hiked all the way to the bottom of the falls (OK, Daddy carried me), and then we hiked
back up. I climbed the stairs back to the top all by myself! After the Falls, we drove to a
little park where we could walk right up to the Mississippi River. Daddy and Uncle Drew
tried to teach Hannah and me how to skip stones on the river. I was happy enough just picking
them up and dropping them in, but Hannah worked really hard to get the hang of it. Ultimately,
I think only Uncle Drew could consistently get more than one skip from his stones. He's got
the touch.
It was another late night, getting to bed after 9:00. But it was worth it. What a great
second day of birthday festivities! Can't wait until I turn three!
