It's My Birthday Today. I'm Two!
So today was my second birthday, and it rocked! I got to go to the zoo with Mommy, Daddy,
Hannah, Phoebe, and Uncle Drew. We saw the dolphin show, but it was too loud for me, so Daddy and
I left and went to play on the playground. Mommy brought us lunch; I had my very first peanut butter
and jelly sandwich. It was my first peanut butter in my whole life! I must say, it was worth the
wait! MUY! After lunch, I went home for my nap, I got to take it in my big boy
bed. I knew and followed the rules, too:
- No standing in the big boy bed.
- No playing with the curtains in the big boy bed.
- No shoes in the big boy bed.
- No getting out of the big boy bed until Mommy or Daddy says it's OK.
Mommy and Daddy were so proud of me for having a good nap in my new bed and following all the rules!
It really wasn't that hard. The hardest part was staying in bed once I woke up, but even that wasn't
really hard. I just sat up in the bed, dangled my legs over the edge, and called for Daddy until he
came and got me. Piece of cake. ...and speaking of cake, Mommy made me a Mickey Mouse cake. But
I guess I'll write more about that later.
So, after my nap, I got to ride my new trike that Mommy and Daddy got me as my birthday present. My
legs aren't quite long enough to reach the pedals yet, but I can climb up and sit on the seat, and
it's fun when somebody pushes me. It's also an adventure to turn the handlebars, since Daddy didn't
get them quite tight enough and they tend to turn side-to-side even when the front wheel doesn't turn.
He promised to fix them tonight.
When Drew, Hannah, and Phoebe got back from the zoo (they stayed there while I had my nap), we all
piled in cars and went to Fireside Pizza for dinner. I didn't remember it, but Mommy said that last
year on my birthday we went to the zoo (with Gramma and Papa), and then had dinner at Fireside Pizza.
So this has become my tradition. After dinner, we went home, and I got to play in the front yard,
ride my trike, and hang out with the cousins and with a lot of the neighbor kids, who were also out
playing.
Then we went inside for Mickey Mouse cake, and to open the rest of my presents. I liked
opening the wrapping paper, and getting presents was cool. I had been asking to open presents all
day, so finally getting to actually do it was great. I got some books, a couple of puzzles, some Legos,
some clothes, some finger puppets, and a neato bell that is just like the one on Papa's bike. What a
haul! I am really excited to play with all my new toys, but Mommy says it's way past my bedtime, and
I'm excited to get to sleep in my big boy bed again. I can remember the rules. I can follow them. I
love sleeping in my new bed, and I love being two!
