Max Blog - Dec 8-19, 2005

Mommy and I left for San Diego on December 8th, way before Christmas. Daddy had left for India for work on the 2nd, so Mommy thought it would be nice to spend the time in San Diego with the rest of the family, rather than for us to be in Minneapolis all alone until he returned. I'm really glad she planned the trip that way. I had a really good time. Not only did we excape the cold of Minnesota, but we also got to spend some time with Auntie Paige and Auntie Staci. We got to go to Disneyland. And of course, we got to spend a lot of time with Gramma, Papa, Uncle Drew, Aunt Randie, and Cousins Hannah and Phoebe. There are a lot of pictures to share, so forgive me for the fact that you're going to have to scroll down. And don't forget that you can click on the pictures to view them in a larger size.

Before Disney: December 8-13
Had a lot of fun just hanging around the house and in the backyard. I really liked playing the piano - the same one Mommy used to play when she was young (though I'm pretty sure not as young as me!) One of my most favorite activites, though, was playing with some bouncy light up balls that Gramma had. When they bounce on the kitchen floor, or against the wall or cabinet (or if someone whacked them on their knee, foot, or even forehead), the balls would blink bright lights - red, blue, or green. It was great fun to get more than one of them bouncing around at the same time. I especially liked throwing them.

Another fun activity was pushing a couple of dollies around in the little stroller. Mommy said that when Hannah was young, she pushed Winnie the Pooh dolls around in a similar stroller, and Phoebe liked to push dollies around in this stroller as well. I didn't really treat the dollies very gently (notice how I'm holding one of the dollies dangling by its arm, but that's not indicative of the treatment that Mommy and Daddy have given me, I promise.

Disney! December 14
So much fun! Such a long day! First, for those who aren't Disney experts, let me explain that there are two adjacent theme parks at Disney in California: the classic Disneyland (celebrating its 50th anniversary this year), and Disney's California Adventure, which is meant to showcase California's history and special character. The first couple of pictures here are from California Adventure. The first is on a fun ride in a Bugs Land. My first ride of the day. The second is in a fishing net on the wharf where we ate lunch. Anyway, we went to both parks during the day. Both were a lot of fun! I have to give Cal Adventure snaps, since Santa was there (pic #3). But on the flip side, Disneyland did have "It's a Small World," all lit up for the season (pic#4 - me and Gramma). Please don't ask me to pick a favorite park; that would be like asking me which I like better between...
    Mommy or Daddy...
    bananas or milk...
"Sex and the City" or "Desperate Housewives"
"X Files" or "Moonlighting" (the early seasons).
A person just shouldn't have to choose between two perfect people, foods, TV shows, or themeparks. We should be able to love them equally, if for different qualities. Anyway, back to my stories about our Disney trip....

We started the day early; Mommy woke me up at 6:30 am, we had a quick drink of milk, and then we took breakfast on the road with us. Disneyland opened at 9:00 and we were there for that. After Mommy and Auntie Paige took a quick ride on Space Mountain, we headed for California Adventure for the middle of the day. I took a 10 minute nap in the stroller around 1:00 or so. There was just too much excitement going on for me to be able to sleep. By the time we all got organized and were ready to leave, it was almost 9:00 pm, and I had had enough. I fell asleep in Mommy's arms (pic#5). Slept all the way home in the car, and slept until 10 am the next morning. WHAT A DAY! Can we go again sometime soon???

P.S. I was kidding about the TV shows. I have never seen "Moonlighting." Plus, if I really think about it, I guess I believe a person should be forced to choose between TV shows. I mean, what would happen if the networks scheduled them opposite each other? People say you can tape/Tivo one, but that's never really as satisfying, is it?

After Disney, But Before Daddy: December 15-19
The weather has been so great the whole trip. I really liked spending time in the backyard. The first picture to the left here is of me exploring under the orange tree. By the way, I think oranges are MUY!

The second shot is also in Gramma and Papa's backyard. I discovered that it was really easy to remove the solar deck lights from their seatings. So I spent a lot of time playing with those. Mommy was pleased, as you might imagine; they weren't the cleanest playthings I could have found. But then again, she figured they were safer than the rusty old wheelbarrow, which is what I had also wanted to play with.
