Changes in My Routine
I don't know why Mom and Dad chose today to introduce a lot of changes to my life, but I took them in stride. At left is a picture of one of those changes - Mom introduced me to beets. No problem; I actually really liked them, despite the awful color evident in the picture. Mom mixed them in my yogurt, because she wanted to feed them to me by spoon, since they were likely to get all over (and stain all over) otherwise. Another change today? No bottles at all. I now use sippy cups exclusively for my milk... even at bedtime. I had my bedtime milk in my booster seat at the table, and didn't get changed into my nighttime diaper and sleeping clothes until after the milk. Major routine change, and again, no problem. OK, so I did put up a bit of a fuss when Mom tried to put me down, but that was because I wanted my Baby Animals book to go to bed with, and I didn't have it. As soon as Mom gave me my book, I went quickly to sleep. No problem. Change? What else have you got for me?

Labor Day Holiday
It was Labor Day today, which meant that Daddy didn't have to leave for work, nor did he have to work from his home office. We got to hang out a lot today. Mom and I hung out this morning while Daddy finished priming the trim on the garage. Then Dad and I hung out while Mom put a coat of paint on one side of the garage. They told me that the paint color they are using for the garage is called "Dense Shrub." How is a kid supposed to learn his colors when they have names like this? Just call it green already!

Also since it was Labor Day, it meant that we were invited to a cookout at the home of some friends. We wanted to take something along, so I helped Mom make some dill crackers while Dad got ready. We walked over to my friend Elizabeth's house about a mile away, and got to have fun (and show off my new walking skills) with Elizabeth, Eli, Eliza, and Zander - oh, and their parents, too. The adults even played a game called "Catch Phrase" while we kids entertained ourselves.

When we got home, I was really tired, because I was long overdue for a nap. Needless to say, I was grumpy. But Daddy is really good at making me laugh and keeping me happy, even when I'm crabby. Here is a picture of how Dad kept me laughing today. No, that's not a chef's hat on his head. It's my shorts. Hee hee. Love that highbrow humor!
