Mom and Dad can't get over how much and how fast I'm changing.
Dad just commented that he noticed how I now point to things, and that I'm starting to
recognize and associate multiple words with the objects they name. I have known "hat"
for quite a while, but now I reliably associate the words "ball," "door," and "bottle"
with their objects. I know quite a bit more words than this, but Mom and Dad are still
trying to figure out what those are. And since I'm collecting them every day, I hope
they get on the ball, or they'll never keep up.
I like to spend most of each day walking around the house. It
has inspired Mom and Dad to take their childproofing activities to the next level, that's
for sure. Still, there are many hazzards that I continue to expose. Frankly, I'd grown
tired of ending each day with a black shirt front, having been their human Swiffer. So
now I'm up on my feet. I still require hand holding - most of the time both hands - but
I am getting more and more sure-footed each day. I like being upright, and not only because
now I can keep my belly clean. It's fun to tromp around the house. And my new favorite
thing is to walk over to the cradle that serves as my toybox (you'll recall that I never
slept in it) and to pull everything out and dump it on the floor. When I get to a book that
I like (e.g. "Who's Peeking" or "That's Not My Lion"), I'll hand it to Mom instead of dumping it
directly on the floor. I'll let her read me a few pages, then I'll grab it back, and then I'll
dump it on the floor. Ah... life is good!
