Today was a travel day. During the first part of the day,
I traveled as much as I could around our house. I decided that I was comfortable
commando crawling into Mom and Dad's room without supervision. I wanted to see what
advice Mom had gotten from her book about dealing with toddlers, so I could be sure
to come up with new ways to surprise (and delight?) her. Tee hee. After I read some
of her books, then I discovered the fun that doors can provide. Slamming doors and
then crying when I can't get them back open (to slam again) -- this is an activity that
has the potential to provide hours of entertainment! When Mom got tired of chasing
me around the house, we went to run an errand and she let me drive. Really - look at the
picture! OK, I tease. She didn't let me drive, but she did let me pretend. Driving is
fun!
The afternoon was spent on a plane to San Diego to spend time with my cousins, aunties and uncles, and Gramma and Papa. Mom did her best to tire me out for the flight. I didn't have to take my afternoon nap at the regular time, because Mom thought I'd be more likely to sleep on the plane. Then, at the gate while we were waiting to board, Mom and I walked all over. I should clarify that I'm not yet able to walk on my own, but I love to walk around holding on to someone's fingers. And it takes a lot of energy, but not enough to get me to fall asleep when I had all the excitement of a plane ride. There was a very nice lady in our row who played with me. And I shreaded an Eddie Bauer catalog. And I ate lots of finger foods. And I had diluted formula in my bottle on take off and landing. And I played with my new Hide Inside Surprise cube toy - my new favorite. I was a bit of a handful for Mom, but overall, I decided not to cry or fuss much; I just reached for things a lot and was generally hard to hold on to. Oh yeah, and my diaper leaked so I peed on Mom's pants. But she took it in stride. When we got to San Diego I got to meet my cousin Christopher and Auntie Jennifer and Uncle James for the first time. Christopher was a little shy, but I sense that he and I will have a lot of fun together once we get to know each other. He crawls like a speed demon, so maybe he can show me that while we're both here. |
