Major accomplishment this morning. This morning Mom sat me down in my crib briefly so she could take a bathroom break. As expected, I started crying as soon as she started to leave the room. But as she always says, "When you've gotta go, you've gotta go!" So, I decided to make the best of my time. When she returned, I had maneuvered myself from sitting to my knees, holding myself up on the crib rails. Mom doesn't know exactly how I did it, as she was predisposed. And I'm not telling. But when Mom returned I did have a self-satisfied grin on my face - a grin that only got bigger when she was clearly so pleased with me. This was starting out to be a red-letter day, and it was about to get better.

There were three of us boys at our JW Tumbles class today. There was Teddy, who is 11 months, and almost walking by himself. Then there was William, who is 9 months old, but very advanced. Both of them are excellent crawlers; Teddy has been crawling since 7 months old and William has been at it for over a month now. Anyway, there was a crawling contest between the three of us. We all lined up and were supposed to race to a finish line. Guess who won! Yep, I did! When the race began, Teddy headed off in a different direction. He was more interested in the slide in the corner than in competing in a silly contest. William was still smarting from having to give up swinging, which is what we were doing before the contest began, so he just sat on the starting line crying. And then there was me. While I'm still not very fast, and I don't really get my tummy up off the ground, I was focused and determined, and I had good aim. I stuck my tongue out, headed towards Mom, and commando-crawled directly there. Everyone clapped and laughed. Yippee for me! To celebrate, Mom treated me to a few minutes in the Johnny Jump-Up... my first time. That was COOL! It was my first time, but it won't be the last if I have anything to say about it. "Bouncy, trouncy, flouncy, pouncy... fun fun fun fun FUN!"

After Tumbles, and a brief nap in the car, I met up with my ECFE friends in Lynnhurst Park for a play date. Zander, Eli, William, and Eliza were there. Oh yeah, and their parents, too. We hung out under the trees, shared stories, and snacks. Eli was eating french fries, but he did come over when I was having some string cheese and liberated some from Mom and me. Eliza was eating Vegie Booty; I am proud to say that I introduced her to that glorious food. Zander actually abstained from any of our snacks; he was too busy being cute. William tried the Vegie Booty, but I think he was happier with the freeze dried apples that Eli was sharing. I am a little embarrassed to report that I got pushed over by Eliza. She just crawled over, put her palm on my chest, and stiff-armed me right to the ground. Mom was laughing, so I laughed, too, but I have to admit that it hurt my feelings a little bit. When she wasn't looking later, I took her hat and just may have slobbered on it a bit. Bullies need to learn their lessons. Later on in the afternoon, Eliza crawled back over to torment me ... or perhaps just to be friendly, but I couldn't take any chances ... this time I wasn't so trusting. When she started reaching for me, I made some noise so Mom would protect me instead of letting me get pushed around.
