I guess I need to back up a bit. Last week I went to see Dr. Daniels to check my head size. She was concerned because, while the growth of most kids' heads starts to slow down a bit by the time they are my age, my head has just kept growing at the same rate, which means that I'm even MORE off the chart in terms of head size than I was last time I saw the doctor. She was concerned enough that she wanted me to have a head CT to make sure that I didn't have anything bad going on that would cause my head to be abnormally big.

So I had the CT last Friday. I must say that it wasn't my favorite thing to do on a Friday morning. They strapped my arms and legs down, and then also strapped down my head so I couldn't move at all. When they slid me into the tube, I started to cry my head off. My parents had two choices ... they could give me a bottle, and hope that calmed me down enough for them to do the test. Or they could have the docs sedate me. If they gave me the bottle and I didn't calm down, they'd have to reschedule the test, because then I wouldn't be able to get sedation. Mom and Dad opted for the bottle, counting on the fact that I take my food very seriously; when I'm eating, I don't really think about anything else. They know me pretty well, I guess. The bottle calmed me down and they were able to do the test.

Today Dr. Daniels called with the results. Bottom line is that I DO have an abnormally big head, but it doesn't appear that there is any sinister cause for it. I have a big head because my Dad has a big head and my Mom has a big head, and that's about all there is to it. We're just a family with freakishly large heads. Things could definitely be worse.

Below are a couple of pictures at the hospital. The one with Dad was taken while we were waiting for the CT room to open up. I didn't know what was coming, and was happily playing with my stroller handles. The one with Mom is after the CT, after having finished my bottle. You can see that my cheeks are still a bit flushed.
