Today was my HALF BIRTHDAY, and it was an eventful day. I went to the doctor for
my six month "well-baby" check up. I had a little half birthday party. And our annual neighborhood
gathering was tonight at Tricia's across the street, so I got to see a whole bunch of the neighbors.
By the end of the day, I was dog tired.
The doctor's visit wasn't too bad. Dr. Daniels was nice enough to warm up
her stethoscope. I got three shots, but I only cried for a few seconds. Dad was distracting
me with a great game of peekaboo. For those of you who are interested in the vitals.... I weight
19 pounds 6 ounces (80th percentile). I am 26 inches long (35th percentile). And (drum roll,
please) my head circumference is off the chart. The doctor actually wants me to come back in in six
weeks to measure it again to make sure it's just huge in a healthy way. I'm also supposed to get
my eyes checked again, as she was a little bit concerned that my left eye might be a bit on the
lazy side. Otherwise, everything was great.
After Dad got home from work, Mom
made me a little birthday cake and put a half candle it so we could
celebrate my first half birthday! Mom and Dad sang, and Dad helped
me take care of the logistics (i.e. blowing out the candle and eating
the cake). After the celebration, we went across the street for the
neighborhood party. It didn't start until almost my bedtime, so I didn't
last for very long, but I liked it that so many of the neighbors felt the
need to tell me how cute I was. They particularly liked my red plaid shirt.
I always get compliments on that.
