This was Day 1 of "The Village." As I mentioned yesterday, Dad left for Washington for the week. He's out there at Microsoft's campus getting even smarter (if that's possible), so Mom and I are testing the concept of it "taking a village" to raise a child. Today Mom's college friend Katrina (aka Tudi) came over with her three-year-old Liam to spend a few hours so Mom could have some relief. Yes, it was only the first day Dad was gone, but Mom said it would be good to have some help at least once each day. I think she was right. She was much more relaxed, having had some company. While I hung out with Kat and Liam, Mom made some Lebanese Lentil Stew, and even raked the leaves in the front yard.

My big news, though, was that I took a 45 minute nap! Now this may not sound like much to some of you, but this is HUGE in Mom and Dad's eyes. I'm sure Dad would have been more pleased to learn that said nap was in my crib (it was not). Instead, I napped in my (previously thought to be evil) swing! That's right, that contraption that I complained so much about in previous blog entries ended up being my nap headquarters today! Of course, Mom was out raking when I went to sleep, so no one except Kat knows exactly how she got me to sleep for so long (and she's not talking!) My story is that I'm just maturing at my own pace, and demonstrating it when and if I choose to do so. Today, I chose to show off for my new friends Kat and Liam!

Sorry, no pictures today.
